Help me understand a dilemma. My new vanity call sign is effective but the FCC data hasn’t propagated to QRZ yet. I have QRZ integration setup in WRL and logbook transfers are working perfectly under my (now) old call. Am I stuck in the water having to wait for QRZ to update with the new callsign sign before I change over my new call in WRL? It doesn’t seem like logbooks will transfer until QRZ data properly reflects the new call.
@W4MVD Unfortunately you are correct as QRZ requires the callsign (and logbook id) to match when contacts are being sent via their API.
Yep, that’s what I guessed. I’m in the grey zone and I understand the FCC has been notoriously slow of late with these database propagations. Thanks for verifying my suspicions.
@W4MVD of course! happy to help!
UPDATE- This may be helpful to someone else with a similar situation. The FCC notified me on Saturday 8/29/2026 that my vanity call sign was effective. Then on Sunday 8/30/2026 QRZ notified me that the FCC database had propagated my call sign on their end.. I was surprised since everything I had read online was that QRZ processes updates every night, but new FCC data is normally available Tuesday through Saturday.
Well this wasn’t case for me and I’m pretty happy about it.
Cheers and 73.
@W4MVD NICE! Good to know. I read somewhere that the FCC was stopping repetitive calls to their ULS database due to so many apps hitting it so frequently. I don’t know if that has anything to do with what you ran into, but it was at least worth noting. I can’t remember where I read that though
