It would be really handy to have a state field in the location tab when logging a QSO. It’s common to speak with someone who is in a state other than the one registered with the FCC. I need a quick way to change it during an activation.

You just need to update the logbook template to something other than the ‘Default WRL’ (see below)
If I choose any template that says it’s for POTA activators, I still don’t see a state field either in the main field or in the “Their Location” button. I see I made a custom a long time ago and forgot about it. Maybe I’ll try editing that to include the state. Thanks for the reply!

KE0VIM, yes being able to select the state is useful, and K4AVE’s suggestion about using a template with the state field visible is spot-on.
I also figured out how to blank out the state field, as sometimes I need to do that. For example, if you know someone is activating a park and the park spans multiple states, you know they aren’t at their FCC address and you might not know what state they are in.
Just click on the state field and quickly type “se”; that brings up “Select…” in the state field dropdown. Then click on “Select…” and log the contact. The state field is left blank. Blank is better than wrong in my opinion.
