The more I use WRL the more I like it and the MORE confused I become.First, there’s an web page that calls itself a desktop app but runs in a browser not a stand alone applications as far as I can determine. This desktop works quite well and I use as it works with QRZ and LoTW without issues. 2 then there’s the control/integration page. It’s to the credit of all WRL that it connects more easily than most of the other CAT control apps floating around in IT space. What adds to confusion is the CAT has no other utility other than frequency change, etc.However, it doesn’t really integrate with any other with the three principle contest applications N1MM, WJST-X, and F3JFP. I rather see a note saying it’s not ready for prime time and disable the link. Further, I keep looking for a CW/RTTY decoder in WRL that works as well as SDR-Control which I use because it works so well with Apple OS. I would ask WRL to bring action to the fore as it were. Having written all this I thank you and staff for creating a VERY usable logging interface with the two major logbooks.
@K9YQ Hey Petra,
So there are a few things here. First what you are calling the desktop app is not the desktop app, its the web app which runs in a browser (ie https://app.worldradioleague.com ). There is a companion app called the WRL Cat Control & Integrations app that provides cat control (rig control) and the ability to stream contacts from WSJTX, N3FJP, & N1MM into your WRL logbooks.
Then there is a mobile app that can be downloaded from the app or play store on your phone or tablets. This is more meant for mobile/portable operating during activities like POTA, SOTA, IOTA, etc.
Then we just released a standalone desktop app (which is still very beta), which has cat control built in natively. With it still being beta it just has cat control (rig control), and not the WSJTX integrations however that is coming soon.
I hope this clears things up for you

Yes I’ve found I’m using or trying to use two different CAT control apps but neither one update WSJT-X.
Independent of WRL connection I can connect to WSJT-X but to date no transmissions have been decoded but I keep trying as I need a method to connect the 7300 while in the field. 73

@K9YQ You need to setup your UDP ports correctly. Are you using gridtracker with WSJTX or just WSJTX?
Just WSJTX and managed to connect the 7300, but no decode displayed but do hear transmission. Not ure about Gridtracker I’ll have to look. P
So since you are using the WRL Cat control app for rig control, in WSJTX you have to set the radio to ‘hamlib net rigctrl’ instead of your radio. And since you aren’t running gridtracker then you just need to set the UDP port in the WRL cat control app to 2238.
Then inside WSJTX settings, goto the Radio tab and for the ‘Rig’ drop down you set it to ‘Hamlib NET rigctrl’.
Then go to the ‘Reporting’ tab in the WSJTX settings and set the ‘UDP Server’ port to 2238 and enable the three checkboxes (Accept UDP Requests, Notify on accepted UDP request, and Accepted UDP request restores window) and enable the checkbox that says "Enable logged contact ADIF Broadcast’.

Thank you Brad I have full control using WRLCAT control and full control in WSJT-X. What I don’t have is any of the msg showing up in the left pain. I can set TX in right pain and hear the signal. It is just not being displayed in left pain. Any suggestions??
@K9YQ I’m not sure i’m understanding. Can you send some screenshots of your settings in WSJTX and the WRL Cat control app and of WSJTX that you are referring to?
Hi Brad,
It is finally working! I changed the audio to USB rather than Realtex and logged first QSO. BTW, so happy to see the autolog directly to my WRL log book. Now to find a CW decoder that works with MS as well as SDR-Control’s works with OS. P

@K9YQ SWEET!!! Glad its working. For windows i use CWTY. It works really well and you can type and send cw if you set your radio up right (at least my dx10 and 991a will). You have to use the way back machine to get access to the download because the site is no longer around
