New ham radio operator here, and I need advice.

I have a problem with a local AM broadcast radio station bleeding on all my HF bands.

I have a new Xeigo G90 HF radio with an end-fed half wave wire antenna (80-10meter resonant) strung over my house.

Offending broadcast station is Indianapolis station WNDE 1260KHz which is about 4 miles away from me. It transmits 5kw during the day which causes widespread interference, but it’s not a problem at night when they use a different antenna system.

I traced 21 different harmonics of the 1260KHz frequency showing greatest interference, but there is also some level of interference throughout the radio spectrum.

Do you think I have a case to complain, or is this normal from a 5KW broadcast transmitter that is 4 miles away?

Thanks!

Hi Frank,

I had almost the same issue. G90 running a 10-40 EFHW with a 5000 watt AM station \* 1,450 \* feet from my antenna. I wound up trying this Band Pass filter from a Ham on Amazon. It had a number of good reviews so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. It works GREAT!

Give it a try.

Thank you, Brian! I actually just bought one of those. I should have it in a couple days.
Have a good one!
