# Slim Jim/j pole antenna

I am trying to build a Slim Jim/J pole antenna. I am using [m0ukd.com](http://m0ukd.com) Calculator. I am having issues with getting my STR low enough for the 440 band. I ended up separating the bottom instead of having it tied like he shows. That helped with getting my SWR lower. Is this going to affect The antenna in any other way?
