My name is Jeff Ingwersen. I live in Washington, IA. I am a newer Ham. I passed my Technician & General tests together on March 8, 2025 and then passed my Amateur Extra test on May 24, 2025 and now hold an Amateur Extra class license. I am a Package Designer and I work for a company that produces the white beaded foam (commonly called styrofoam) I use 3D modeling software (Solidworks) to design packaging… If you have ever bought a TV and when you opened the box it had those foam endcaps - Yeah that’s me, that’s what I design… Haha

For VHF/UHF I am running a Yaesu FT-100D with a Diamond X30A Dual Band Antenna about 40 feet high.

For HF I am running a Yaesu FT-710 with a Hustler 4BTV vertical antenna (ground mounted with 32 radials) and I also have a 74-foot Endfed antenna hanging between a couple of trees in the back yard.

One of the greatest things I LOVE to do in Ham radio is just listen to the old-timers stories about life in the old days. I am no spring chicken myself (51 years old) but to listen about life in the 40’s and 50’s and stories about the Vietnam and Korean wars from those that lived back then are priceless. I have much respect for the old-timers and will always stop the dial to hear a story. Thank you all for sharing your history with the rest of us..

My hobbies are Ham radio and HO scale model trains. I have a CNC Laser and a CNC router so I make all of my own props and buildings for my train layout… I also make a wide variety of other items that I sell in local farmer’s markets and craft shows from time-to-time.

Best Regards and 73…
