My name is Bob and I reside in Abita Springs, LA which is approximately 40 miles north of New Orleans. I recently retired from law enforcement after serving 38 years  in the New Orleans area, working with the New Orleans Police Department and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

I received my technician ticket in April 1992 and worked a lot of local New Orleans repeaters and packet radio. I came and left the radio a lot over the years until I discovered D-STAR and became interested in the radio again. My overall goal was to get on HF and talk to the world on a wire antenna. I bought the general study book and read it off and on over a 2 year period before I retired. Once I retired I pushed it hard and on 10/8/2022 I passed my General exam.

My gear:
Yaesu FT-991A conneted to an MJF-1984 end fed 1/2 wave 40m-10m wire antenna up about 30 feet on a slope. Also connected to a dual band Diamond X200A VHF/UHF antenna up about 20 feet.
