My name is Gary {KA1YCJ} and I’m a Bicycle Mechanic, Mountain Biking, Ham. I live in Pittsfield Ma. The Heart of the Berkshires. Originally I’m from Preston Ct. I got my ham license originally back in the early 90’s when I was in middle school. As I became a young adult Ham Radio, or any hobby for that matter became unaffordable. Here I am now 47 (2024) when a friend asked if I have ever heard of Ham Radio lol. Up until then I completely forgot it was even a passion of mine. I ended up passing Tech back in August becoming KC1VFV, immediately started studying for General, during which time I applied to get my old call back KA1YCJ. That all worked out; and passed the General exam in October (2024). So here I am a General Class as KA1YCJ once again. Planning to take the Advanced soon.

I was a Blackhawk mechanic in the Army. I am married, I have teenage triplets (2024), I own a Bicycle Repair Shop, I ride a super sweet S-works Levo (electric mountain bike), and I’m looking forward to mixing these 2 hobbies once warmer weather hits. (Today is Thanksgiving)
