I’ve always enjoyed the weather, and my first exposure to Amateur Radio was when I was getting my Skywarn certification at the local NWS. They had all the Ham equipment needed to get on the air and start transmitting. They also said that if you like Skywarn, consider becoming a Ham. So I did.
