New ham here, based in midtown. Anyone around NYC? I haven’t been able to make much contact in the metro area but maybe I’m not looking in the right place!
Welcome David! We’re just getting this community up and running - should be more here within the month once we officially launch! For now, hello from the CEO here in Georgia
Hello KN4NEH
Not a HAM yet, but I’m working on it. I will test in November.
Looking forward to making contact.
I am in the Lower East Side/ Chinatown.
Judging by What I found at the ARRL website, the nearest HAM club to us, is about 42 miles away in New Jersey.

Did you test yet? If not, best of luck! Hope to connect once you’re on the waves
Hello David
Nelson here
No I haven’t even found a place to test yet. Where did you test?
Have you found any clubs in NYC?

Nelson,
You can go to the ARRL website to find a test location the link is attached here.
The other option you can do is an online testing service which you can also find on the ARRL website or use this link.
I did both Tech and General were in-person and my Extra was online using Parc VE testing. The online is very convenient and has the most dates and times to choose from. Also, the process of filing to the FCC is only 1 or 2 days by the online VEC. My license was updated within 48 hours. If you go with an online test you can’t review the questions once you answer a question another one pops up as compared to in person, so you have to know the answer to the question 100%. In-person you have a chance to go over the test before submitting it in, but, once it’s submitted that’s it you can’t ask for it back. The in-person takes a bit longer to process the paper work.
Good Luck, 73
