API Read Access for Club Leaderboards and QSO Statistics | Integrations | W3BGE

New feature request by @W3BGE!

Hello WRL Team,

I’m with the Branch County Amateur Radio Club (BCARC), and we’re looking to develop a WordPress plugin called “BCARC FT8 Battle” to replace the recently discontinued FT8 Battle Royale.

Our goal is to create a friendly monthly competition for club members using World Radio League as our logging platform.

We would like to automatically retrieve members’ logged contacts through the WRL API and award points for FT8, FT4, FT2, POTA hunting, POTA activations, and Park-to-Park contacts.

Before beginning development, we’d like to know:

  1. Does the current WRL API support reading/retrieving logged QSOs, or only submitting them?
  2. Can individual members authorize our plugin to access their logbooks?
  3. Can the API provide callsigns, dates, bands, modes, and POTA park references?
  4. Does WRL support FT2 contacts?
  5. Are there rate limits or restrictions for automatically updating a club leaderboard?

If these capabilities aren’t currently available, we’d love to see them added to the API.

We believe this could be a great feature for amateur radio clubs worldwide, encouraging activity while bringing more operators to World Radio League.

Thanks for your consideration!

Lee, W3BGE
