2m calling

Is anybody using 2 m calling anymore?

@KF0YEB I’m not exactly sure. With @W1KE, I have made a few contacts via 2m simplex. However, many hams (including me) use linked 2m repeaters for establishing long-distance communication.

I use it, but only when traveling. I make calls when entering populated areas but haven’t had any responses in the past.

I use 146.52 when activating POTA on 2m. I also keep my Icom 2730A set to monitor our local repeater and 146.52 and talk to people as far as 75 miles away when elevation allows. I live in NW Ga and have a lot of mountains around me. Whenever several of us hams are traveling together in different vehicles we pick a 2m frequency to keep from tying up repeaters in the area.

Sounds good, fellow ham

Roger! Glad to hear from you

Whenever Im on a repeater with someone, I ALWAYS ask to go simplex and QSY to 2m Calling. :+1:

Try it sometime. Find out their QTH on the repeater and ask if you can switch over to simplex.
