Feature request to have the desktop APP auto lookup DX Call sign sent over from WSJT-X to the desktop APP to display additional contact details. Here is short video of the feature request: https://youtu.be/73CGZ0Y5_sY
the auto lookup display should also include such details as country and state in addition to the miles, bearing and QSOs
It would only do the lookup on the initial look up not for the whole cycle in WSJT-X

@KG5EIU Hey David,
I see how this could be useful, however I would HIGHLY recommend using WSJTX + Gridtracker to help see ALOT more data around running FT8. This shows you the active connections/connection attempts being made on a map plus all the country details as well, plus using the call roster you can sort by signal strength. Just makes running FT8 MUCH MUCH more informative and enjoyable. With all that said, I would want to have your suggestion work both by running just WSJTX as well as running in conjunction with GridTracker.

We have chatted about the idea of creating an FT8 client inside of WRL just so everything is all under one roof.

Hi Brad,
I am familiar with GridTracker - nice bit of software. I used to use it. (Have moved over to open ham clock) However, I am trying to pair down the number of software things I have to open and run to make and log a QSO. I am coming from the HRD world. Last thing I want is have to have another APP in between my radio and logbook just make my life and upkeep etc. more complicated. So far WRL is working really well for my needs and I am passing along suggestions based around my various use cases. Not looking up the call sign that gets sent over from the WSJT-X listener is not
that big of a deal, however, it works differently from using CW or SSB with the desktop logger, which is why I sent in the feature request.
Hopefully you ONLY keep chatting about the FT8 client built into the desktop APP - I wouldn’t want that or use it much.
(I run Icom radios if I wanted that I could just run SDR Control or K4 Control from Marcus - and then no need for WRL)
Please keep your focus on the logging bits and parts and getting supporting the ARRL contests. The last thing I am really waiting for is the LoTW upload - when that becomes
available I can turn off HRD and move my station over to macOS and desktop.

For the time being (until we release the LOTW auto export) you can have QRZ auto export enabled and setup your QRZ account to send those QSO’s to LOTW. This is how i run it for now. All contacts logged in WRL auto export to QRZ and then I can select those QSO’s in bulk and export to LOTW with a click.
