What is D-STAR?
The word D-STAR is Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio.
It is an open protocol for digital communications established by JARL (Japan Amateur Radio League).
We use D-STAR on almost all amateur radio bands for Digital Voice (DV) and Digital Data (DD). We use our D-STAR transceivers to send and receive text messages, photos via RF (simplex and repeaters) and/or internet (computer / hotspot).
Some DV simplex frequencies in the U.S. are 145.670 (2 M) and 446.225 (70 cm ). To find D-STAR HF QSO, visit http://hf.dstar-relay.net.
Can WRL add D-STAR among the modes in the LOGBOOK?
- If you need a cool, open stand-alone D-STAR DPLUS reflector to extend the range of communications for your radio or even your repeater, you can use REF093. Anything about D-STAR you want to share with us? Please let us know.
