Grid Square Discrepancies [Investigating]

In working the the ARRL International DX contest this weekend, I am noticing that just about every callsign that I log into my WRL logbook, the Grid Square that the WRL picks up when I input the Stations Callsign is different than what that Call has entered in their QRZ page information.

Where is the WRL picking the info from?

We are picking up the grid square from a combination of a few places - HamDB and our own internal database.

If you have a chance, could you send an example or two of contacts that don’t have the grid square you expect, so we can look into it further?

For me, most recently was KP4PR, grid square shows California on WRL. When the actual is in Puerto Rico(FKX8xk)

Here are just a few of the Stations that I worked during the ARRL DX Contest that had a different Grid Square in QRZ ver WRL.

LT3E - QRZ Grid: FF75qq. WRL Grid: FF96mh

HI3LT - QRZ Grid: FK48ws WRL Grid: FK49pd

4A7S - QRZ Grid: EK09kk. WRL Grid: DL91vh

A lot of the Calls grids were off by the last two letters in the 6x grid

@W4WAG we will take a look at this! We are currently revamping our grid square calculations and we will take a look at these.
