Hello from Central Florida

KQ4JII located on the Gulf side of Florida. New to WRL. I’ve had my license around a year, but have not used it, yet. Would like to be active, but not sure how to start. I’m retired, so I have time to learn. I have a BAOFENG BF-F8HP (UV-5R 3rd Gen) 8-Watt radio, and anxious to put it in use. Really looking forward to it.

Come on, start making your QSO’s and enter them in WRL. Then when you can you can buy an HF radio and make QSO’s in 10M

I would recommend looking up your local repeaters on repeaterbook.com to see what is near you, and then program these into your radio. See which ones you can key up from your location or while mobile and just throw your callsign out every once-in-a-while. You can also monitor to see which repeaters have the most traffic. I would also echo what @WP3C said: get an HF radio and get on 10m.
