My training started in 1973 when I became a Morse Systems operator for the USAF. Had trouble with the CW and actually viewed that the people who learned it the fastest were on drugs! lol Had a friend who was really into this who as stationed with me at RAF Chicksands, England who was a communications analyst. Tried to talk me into getting a HAM license, but I wanted nothing to do with it. Finally got me Tech license in 2015, but have never used it. Currently live in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Ride a Harley trike and am an OLD FART!
KG5KGN here - Welcome from Berryville, AR. Interested in Radios from the 1970s CB Radio days and licensed as a General (took Tech/Gen together) in 2016. Using an off-center dipole catching 80-6 meters on my Yaesu FT-991. I have a Baofeng UV-5R handheld that I piddle around with; I also requested a pair of Baofeng UV-5R’s GRMS from Santa… I’m less of a talker and more of a listener - I learn more that way, but I’ll try to dust off the microphone in the future more often. I’m hoping to move up to Amateur Extra by June 2024. I’d suggest trying to move up to General if it fits your ambitions - there’s a lot more to play with! BTW - I have a 2015 Road Glide myself. I’m not an old fart, but I see it coming quickly!
