OK, I already have the UV5R and a TIDRADIO -TD-H8.
I do not have my license yet, but I’m almost finished with the Technician course and will be taking the test either this month or next. I spent 20 years in the Army as a Tanker, and have used every radio from the Vietnam era PRC-77 to the SINGARS. During my career, I was often assigned to command tanks (Platoon Leaders, Company Commanders, and battalion-level command tanks), allowing me to use radios at higher levels, with higher security, in all conditions, from Central European plains, Bosnia, and in Middle Eastern deserts. I’ve used radios to call for fire and to request MEDEVACs.
I feel I’m ready to join the professionals in “Amateur” Radio (Because HAM operators are pros!) and expand my peaceful horizons, and serve my community in any way possible. I may be new to HAM radio, but not new to radio communications and following the rules!
I look forward to communicating with people around the world.
