When looking at countries communicated with on the stats page It will show the US flag for places that aren’t the US, such as Canada, republic of Germany, Mexico, Antartica, etc.

On the mobile app, desktop app or the web app? Can you send a screenshot of what you are seeing? If you are referring to the web app, maybe try a hard refresh by holding your shift key on your keyboard while clicking the refresh button in your browser.
Typically the only time that will happen is is the data in the qso record is incorrect and showing a dxcc id of 291 (US).
