Does the iPad app support cat control? Really i dont care about control, i would just like it to pick up frequencies when i am hunting, so i dont have to manually enter them. iPad 9th Gen/FT-891.
@W1MPC Unfortunately no, since ipads and tablets dont support com ports there is no way for us to do this.

Brad, I would like a clarification on your statement since you said “iPads and tablets”. Since iPad are apple’s tablets I’m assuming the “and tablets” you are talking about are Android based? Android phones and tablets do support integration for CAT control. Just look at applications like FT8CN or FT8TW and you’ll see direct USB, Bluetooth and Network capabilities. If plugging in via the USB port I will actually get a pop-up asking which “serial port” to connect to on my IC-705. Just like how USB drivers for ICOM and other radios enumerate COM and Sound ports. This referring to the COM port for CI-V or the COM port for GPS in the case of the IC-705. But programs like FT8TW support MANY radio brands/models. I’m not sure if there is a limitation in the Apple developer toolkits that prevents similar capabilities as Android or if it’s the more closed system to apps from Apple. I’m asking this question only as a way to bring knowledge to you and the team that at least on the Android side of things it would be possible to have CAT control.

@KK7PZE Hey Joe! Thanks for the schooling here! I was unaware that android opened a com port to the radio (or at least the 7300). I’ll have to try and get ahold of an android tablet and see what we can do and see if this is possible with our current architecture. I’ll do some more research and dig into this.

No problem Brad. I can tell you that the 7300 is supported by FT8TW. FT8TW is a fork of FT8CN. Source code is available on Github for both of them. Not sure if they’d be compatible with your current dev framework though.
