Just getting started

Passed the Tech exam in July. This station build is a work in progress. I built this fly-tying desk years ago and thankfully have been unable to sell it. It will become my station desk. I recently built/added the shelf unit. I have a long way to go. No radio gear until late this year. Photos of what it is now and what I will hope to achieve (I’m not certain this is completely technically correct) in the next few months. Best Regards and 73 to WRL.

Thanks for the share!!

It’s so funny, this is SO similar to my own home station with the window pass through and grounding!!

Update on the shack. I now have a VibroCube and Mini Yak keyer, learning how to iambic key. Pretty tricky.

@K4HLS This is a BEAUTIFUL setup! Mind if we share it on social media? (Since you’ve got WRL on your screen  )

Hello, N0APX. Thank you. Yes, you may. I am humbled that you liked and asked to do so. No radio gear yet so I’m working on everything else. Dabbling. Much obliged & 73.

Thanks for your video on the Rocket Machine Werx window pass thru install, James.

One question though…I don’t understand the two holes/bolts for the ground pass thru. Wouldn’t a single hole and all-thread rod be a better connection point for the ground wire on both sides? Thanks

Hey @K4HLS thanks so much!

I agree, I’m not sure why they have the two holes. A single hole and all-thread rod would probably be better, but the existing approach does work fine I think.

Thank you, James. You’re a busy guy with all that you do. I won’t bog you down with other questions. I certainly will keep watching and learning from HRP and WRL. Such awesome sites for learning. With respect and Best Regards. 73

Ham desk/shack is pretty much ready for radio gear. Hopefully by the end of the year. 73
