Leaderboard Points

Just a thought. For leaderboard scoring on your contests / activities page,

SSB contacts should be worth more points than FT8,

Unlike some, I have nothing against FT8. That said, SSB contacts are far more challenging.

Thx

Also just realized that someone can easily jump to top of leaderboard by entering same station multiple times. Thus, a person who has contacted 1 station 20 times, will be ahead of person who contacted 21 unique stations.

The leaderboard algorithms definitely need work. All modes should not be equal. Subsequent contacts should not have same weight as new contacts. It all kind of defeats the purpose of having a leaderboard.

All that said, thanks for continuously improving this platform.

Good example of how the Leaderboard is a fail.

Rte 66 contest “winner”. All FT8, only made contact with a small percentage of the 22 stations. Most of the contacts are with only 3-4 stations repeated 6-8 times each. That is also very poor contest etiquette which should not be encouraged.

If you scroll way down in the list ranking, you see those who had a clean sweep to all participating stations.

I am increasingly using the WRL logbook as my first choice. Will continue with other platforms for contesting until the leaderboard issue gets addressed.

Second what K3CAR said, it would be nice to be able to filter out FT8 contacts when looking at ‘Most Contacts Overall’, ‘Longest Distance’, and ‘Most DX Contacts’ Leaderboards. CW/SSB can’t really compete with weak signal modes.

Even worse is that someone can make ft8 contacts multiple times, to only a single station on the same band, and they jump to the top of the leader board. Minimally, it should only be counted again if on a different band or different mode.
