Counting Streamed Contacts On the Leaderboard

I am going to renew again because I want to support your efforts. However would like to offer some feedback. I love the user interface and look and feel of your app. You have done a very good job there. I would like to use WRL as my primary app but I never do because of the ineffective integration with other key apps I use.

I do a lot digital stuff and more and more coming back to SSB. But in FT8 for example, I use WSJT-X and GridTracker. GT feeds QRZ which in turn, feeds LoTW. Sort of like a data highway. I would like to use WRL in that flow as the primary logger but everything is a post-event import and is not automatic and also there seems to be some restriction that if I haven’t used WRL to capture a QSO that I won’t get credit for it in things like state leader races. Since I am in a small state (Vermont) and a founding WRL member, I can almost guarantee that I would be pretty high up the leader board if this restriction was not in place. So? I almost never use WRL.

I’ll re-up this next time around but if things are the same next year will cancel out.

Maybe I am missing something and would welcome a course correction if you think I am off base.

Hi @KC1SBV thanks for being a Founding Member and thanks for your feedback here!

Are you importing the contacts as an ADI or streaming them to WRL via the downloadable desktop app?

I think we can help here:

  • ADI imported contacts do NOT count towards the leaderboard, because they can be more easily manipulated.

However, if you set up a data pipeline as you mention and stream contacts into WRL, then they will count towards the leaderboard! In fact, most of the users on the FT8 leaderboards are using some type of contact streaming.

I think it all just depends on how you have this set up. Let us know some more information and we will do our best to help!

@K4AZE @N0APX for visibility here!

Hey Shaun,

I replied to your ticket you emailed in with instructions on how to set this pipeline up between WRL, WSJTX & Gridtracker.

Thanks & 73
