I have a POTA activator that shows me as a contact in the POTA database, but this person does not confirm via QSL card, QRZ, LoTW or WRL. Is there a way to manually mark this QSO as confirmed in WRL so that when I upload to QRZ and LoTW it will show there as well?
@W7YBY I have the same issue with a few different activators. One guy I have eight POTA contacts and zero confirmed anywhere except the POTA site. A few others I have two or three and same thing. I have emailed folks directly before asking and got results but a few times no response also. Good luck!
HAHAHA I wish it was that easy. I have a contact in Barbados 9 or 10 times and he just will not confirm. I think there is only 1 ham on the island of Somoa and he wont confirm either. Happens all the time unfortunately.
If POTA would just let us download an ADIF it would solve everything, but since we’re just Hunters I don’t think that will ever happen.
With that it would be like the rest of them, you would need to have both sides do it to make sure that you didnt just put anything in there. So now you would have even less because one side or the other wouldnt send them in and you would get far less credit.
I also know you can go to clublog and look up some DX contacts and pay to get the confirmed QSO.
Thanks guys! I’m moving this over to the Feature Requests topic, I think we can add a Manual Confirmation option. Cheers!
James,
To AA8TT’s statement, there would need to be some sort of validation to keep people from just randomly entering QSOs and confirming them. A screenshot of the POTA page attached to the WRL record would suffice but would be cumbersome; I would imagine your techies would be able to come up with something much more elegant.
@W7YBY good point. Every time we store a confirmation in our database, we store a “confirmation type” and details with it. We definitely need to maintain this integrity.
The best confirmation is when both contacts exist in our database, because it has the highest authenticity. We can also import confirmations from QRZ today, but that is a different confirmation type.
And, if we add manual confirmations, we have to make sure to maintain the integrity, especially as we continue to expand our awards system.
