Do you think it would be possible to make it so you could update logs to confirm QSOs through other logbooks imported?
Like when you import to QRZ from LOTW you get the option to just update and add new logs, then it will give you a star with a circle around it to show that a confirmation came from LOTW.
I don’t know, it would be nice to have some confirmed contacts, I know more will come once this awesome place becomes more popular.
@KR4BOD Currently if you import your logs from QRZ or LOTW we import the confirmations as well (if the contact is already confirmed on those platforms). I dont think there would be a way for us to confirm contacts on other platforms though as they handle the confirmations there. Example; if both parties upload their logs to QRZ, then QRZ does the confirmation and provides you the star icon denoting the contact is confirmed (assuming the data matches), we do the same thing in WRL when two users of WRL make a contact and the data matches, we add the green checkmark that denotes its a confirmed WRL contact. We will be adding the ability to only check for confirmations on QRZ soon. For example; you make a contact on WRL today and export that contact to QRZ, then a week later the other party you made a contact finally uploads their logs to QRZ and then QRZ confirms the contact, we will provide a way (either via a button &/or a toggle that you can enable to automatically check for confirmations) and once it runs it will check for confirmations and pull that confirmation in.
The end goal is to have WRL be where users upload their logs for confirmations and awards, etc. Baby steps though
So when I import something that already has a logbook entry it just skips it and doesn’t update it (because I use this as my field logger of course) so I mainly just want the checkmarks to be pulled from QRZ instead of me having to delete my logbook and then bringing in contacts to a fresh one to see the confirmation if that makes sense.
I know this is not top priority and I’m totally here for the ride. I hope this becomes the ham hub.
@KR4BOD correct, or being pulled into your WRL logbook (ie the qso doesn’t exist in one of your WRL logbooks). The reason for this is as mentioned before. There is no way for us to know when the other party will upload their logs to QRZ or LOTW and then QRZ or LOTW confirms the contact.
example: you log a contact in WRL today and export that to QRZ. We currently have no way to know when the other person will upload their logs to QRZ and QRZ then confirms the contact. It could be 1 day, 1 month, 1 year, etc before they upload their logs to QRZ.
This is where the functionality to poll the QRZ API and check strictly for confirmations, and pull those in, comes in to play. Its being worked on, just trying to get through the backlog of tickets from the db upgrade first.
