My Portable Antenna? The Reel POTA-ble EFHW Antenna

This is the Antenna I use when out Portable. The Reel POTA-ble EFHW Antenna, it’s a 40-10 EFHW that’s adjustable. I like it because it’s lightweight, and I can just clip it on my bag. N5BSB

Nice thing is they’re really easy to make too.

That looks like a fantastic idea! I don’t know why I didn’t see this post before now! Do you have specs on how to assemble it?

Looks similar, but this one has a built in transformer.

In the case of mine you go to the hardware store and get a chalkline. Then you take the string off, and you put wire on.

I use 30 lb test AFW surfstrand.

Since there’s about 300 feet of wire on it I can run it in various ways -

End fed, random wire, off center fed, etc. All that need be done is use the appropriate unun, so I built a 9:1, a 49:1 and a 64: 1.

I’m also not restricted to what end I can feed it from.

Pictured here are the 9:1 and the 64:1

Thanks for sharing but I really wish you didn’t hijack my post. There is a antenna section for this reason. I was posting what I use! Have a good day.

Do you use a balun at the end? If so what kind?

The 49:1 transformer is built inside.
