Was doing an activation and was logging multiple Park to parks. It seems small but with tablets and phone typing in the parks all of the designators are xx-xxxx. The dash, can you just have the hyphen auto populate because just to add a hyphen it can be multiple pages into the keyboard. Working people that are in 2 or 3 parks for slow typers and trying to type it when they are spitting out a couple of them it would help tremendously if I could just keep typing instead of stopping to run through alternate characters to just hit the hyphen. If it auto populated we could just type it out.
@AA8TT You actually don’t have to type the US - if you just type the number, it will auto populate and put in the US-, just pick the park when you type in the numbers. I just found this out myself and was struggling with Park to Park as well. Stay safe Jeff WV1DAD
Sweet ty, that would be a huge help. I will try that then. It’s not like I couldn’t do it, I just hate stopping and making people wait while I flip through the keyboards then I have to make them repeat it multiple times. Great part is most of the people in this hobby don’t mind. It just really makes it hard for me being a beginner (second activation) trying to get wife (her first activation) to show her it can be fun. Luckily, she did seem to enjoy herself but it does come to a screaming halt when im trying to remember, type and show her. I’m a normal guy, I can hold exactly 1 thing in my mind at a time. Hahaha
@AA8TT Yeah it helps a huge amount! I have learned from doing POTA that it is okay to slow down and get log etc right then move on to the next call sign. Hunters are always there and will wait, just like when you hunt from your QTH. Once my wife got her first activation a month ago or so it has been great. Getting over the nerves at first is huge. And to clarify, this works with ALL countries, however it will show the US parks first with matching numbers and then it shows the other countries in REVERSE alphabetical order. So when I entered 0330 for my Chile contact it showed all the US parks with 0330 in them, and then I had to scroll down until I hit the CL-0330 entry. Still, it’s a nice feature to have overall.
