Update Distance and Azimuth In Lookup Box when User Is In a Park

Hmm, I understand the cause, now, but it would be nice if they could modify the feature to still switch the locations when I’m actively placing a park in the fields, but maybe it disables the Spot feature(s) or something.

To clarify, I meant “but I could see why they’d want to disable the Spot feature…”

At some point I’ll advance to using WRL for logging, but while I’m starting out I’ve been keeping a paper log and inputting contacts later. It’d be great if the location-changing functionality was still available even when there isn’t an active spot in place. :folded_hands: Would that be possible, @N0APX @N0WRL?

Hi @W9TEF thank you for the input here and thanks for your support :folded_hands:

Do you mean that you want it to automatically add the park for you, when you are manually adding contacts from a paper log later?

We don’t actually store the spotting data in our database, so this would be difficult - you can add the park number manually in the Their Park field though.

Let me know if I am understanding the request correctly, and thanks again!

@N0WRL Sorry, no–I’ve done more entries now and I think I understand the feature/situation. I was looking for the City/State to automatically change in the logging form when I input a park number. I see now that although the City/State doesn’t automatically change when I enter the park number in the FORM, it does take on the park’s city/state information when the contact is logged. At least I think that’s what I’m seeing! So it’s close to what I was looking for already, but it would be nice if I got a visual indication of the park’s location while I’m inputting the contact before I submit. It sounds like it will do this if the spot is live at the same time, like I’m logging while the QSO is occurring? Apologies for the confusion.

Basically I’m looking for any excuse to see some ‘fun fact’ kind of information during a QSO–admittedly I haven’t logged during QSOs yet (only afterwards referring to my paper log) so the features might already be there. But sort of like the info pop-up I see when I put in a Callsign, it would be cool to see some information about the park when the park number is put in.

(bonus request: I’d love the option to have Park # be a primary field. Okay, I’m done now! Maybe.)

Ohhh @W9TEF thank you for the callout about the park not showing in the “bubble” after you enter it, this is a bug!! We’ll get that fixed for you and thanks for the patience!

Also, we should probably make it update city and state in the logger too, but that one is a little trickier to implement. Thanks for all your help!

@N0WRL, when you mention the “bubble,” do you mean the options that appear while typing,

or the thing that appears after a Callsign match is found?

I’d really like it to be the latter, especially since the call sign box has distance and heading–and we would want those to update with the park’s data instead of their registered QTH.

Thanks for paying attention to this!

Thank you @W9TEF for clarifying here - creating a new topic so we don’t lose track of this request
