Using an EcoFlow River Pro (and extra battery) as power for my base station

I’m working on a simple base station setup with a dualband VHF/UHF transmitter for my base station. I have a technician license and I don’t think I’ll be sitting for the General for a while (want to get my feet wet first). I have an Ecoflow River Pro and extra battery which has a 12 volt output. Has anyone heard of this being used to power a base station? I’m trying to use what I have to get started so I can spend a little more on the transmitter and antenna. Thank in advance.

I don’t see why not, I use a much smaller scaled setup, basically scaled down power box using one battery so I can throw it in the truck along with the mobile vhf transceiver. Don’t know what amp rating the 12v out is on those, but you’ll want it rated for 25 amps. You could hook directly to the extra battery and use the ecoflow to keep that charged I suppose.

Hello and welcome to amateur radio!

I use a 50Ah Lithium Iron battery to power my Yaesu FTDX10 base station. I use a NOCO 5Ah battery charger to maintain my battery. I’ve been using this setup for a couple of years.

Simple and convenient solution that I already owned.

Do you charge and use the 50Ah battery at the same time? Thanks

@KI7LPT Are you hooking the radio directly up to Eco flow? If so, how? I have an Eco flow and was thinking about using it.

No, I made my own power box. The eco flow should be fine, as long as your 12vdc out can handle 25 amps. Also it’s fine to charge and use a lithium battery - think solar charge controller.
