Add WWFF, SOTA, etc [IMPLEMENTED]

Could someone explain the POTA only slider? Has anone looked to spots from cqgma.org for WWFF SOTA or otherwise? I really have no interest in an extension of pota.app when I hoped for an inclusive alternative to LOTW.

This is a valid point! @WP3C, @N4ML, or @N0WRL from the WRL staff will probably respond to this soon. They’re usually pretty good about responding quickly.

That sounds like a great improvement! Not super duper familiar with the other “outdoor operating” modes outside of POTA. Aside from SOTA and WWFF are there any other filters you’d see yourself using? I can get this in our feature request system and start outlining how we change things.

Thank you for the reply. There are so many awards programs out there, and each have dedicated and diversified followers. So a single QSO from someone in a “park” could often check a box or multiple boxes. POTA + WWFF + SOTA, or, plus an IOTA, USIOTA, Beach, and possibly a Wal-Mart too. I guess it depends on where this program is to land and its perceived value to those users.

You know, thats one of our key reasons for getting this started. So much in ham radio is disjointed, to the point you could be getting awards for things you don’t even know exist. In addition to the spotting, I’m sure you’ve noticed the awards tab on your profile. This is of course for contest awards, but we’re also building out a robust awards engine for key operating milestones like 50 states, 100 DX entities, etc. Definitely a lot of cool opportunity there to analyze contacts and implement in some cool recognition for working stations participating in the programs you’ve mentioned.

Thanks for mentioning that! I’ve been thinking about the Worked all States and the DXCC and was hoping it was or could be implemented!

Good to hear! Good to see other outside the box solutions like mParks Converter and PoLo in addition to WRL.

No replies. POTA on and on and on. Apparently just another POTA solution looking for a POTA problem to solve.

Hi Al, really sorry we haven’t done a good job communicating the progress and roadmaps here.

We’re definitely extending far beyond just POTA. Here are a few of the upcoming roadmap items:

  • Robust awards and analytics, including tracking progress towards DXCC, WAS, as well as some new custom awards
  • QSO Manager with bulk edits, ability to merge logbooks
  • Adding SOTA and WWFF as supported activities
  • Live contesting enhancements, including livestreams and detailed analytics on operator performance, real-time contest adjudication / log analysis
  • Integrations, including WSJT-X and N1MM, among others we’re considering
  • CAT Control
  • Alerts and Notifications

Are any of these roadmap items what you would like to see? If not, what would you like to see us focus on?

Thanks for the feedback!
