How to edit a QSO's location to the actual country instead of the operator's home QTH?

Hey, WRL. I’m probably doing something wrong, but here’s my situation:

I’ve decided to use WRL to log my unique DX entities. I got only as far as the second one, WA2LYS/V26. I made contact with him when he was operating from Antigua and Barbuda on 10/17/2024, but the app puts him at his home QTH in New York. I edited the QSO info so that it reflected the proper country, but it seems to revert back upon exit.

Again, I’m sure I’m overlooking something obvious, but could you kindly point me in that direction?

Cheers!

@W9DAE After looking at your logbook and the QSO it looks like the gridsquare is getting set for this contact to his QTH gridsquare of FN20xr however it should be set to FK97cb (Antigua & Barbuda) as well as the country set to Antigua & Barbuda.

Since you are entering these QSO’s days after the actual qso, its just doing a callsign lookup and pulling their location based on the call sign data itself instead of where the user was at the time of the QSO. i hope this makes sense

I’ve updated the contact for you and it seems to be mapping correctly now. One other thing I noticed is you dont have a frequency set for the two QSO’s in your account. Once you add the frequency it will auto set the band/mode for you as well.

@K4AZE if the user inputs the country manually, we shouldn’t overwrite it though - so there might be a bug here?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I’m chasing 100 DX entities. I’m sitting at 91. Though I keep my logbook in a (very clean) Excel file, I’d like to visualize my DX QSOs on a map. I don’t mind inputting the country/entity manually, but digging up 91 different grid squares just for this project seems like more work than I want to take on at the moment.

Thanks for the discussion!

@N0WRL It could be, but what I think happened here is he was logging a QSO after the fact and when the call sign look up happened it pulled the callsign’s QTH via the call sign lookup instead of where the users was at the time of the initial contact.

That makes sense, but when I then edit the location and move to the next entry, my change is not being saved.

@W9DAE Are you using the web app (https://app.worldradioleague.com) or the mobile app?

If you are using the web app, make sure you are logged in & do a hard refresh (hold shift on your keyboard and click the refresh button in your browser). This will make sure you’ve got the latest updates. This was an issue we were having when we first did the database upgrade but we’ve released fixes since then.

After doing that, try editing a contact and see if its still not saving. If so there might be something else going on but I think that should do it for you.

Let me know if your still having trouble & I’ll reach out to the team and create a ticket for you.

Howdy. I’m on the web app right now. I’ve done a hard refresh twice, used the drop-down box to select Antigua and Barbuda, deleted the info in “Their City,” and then clicked “Update Contact.” The changes are not saved, the QSO immediately reverting to the operator’s home QTH in New York.

I’m able to replicate this on your account. Let me reach out to the team and create an account and we’ll push a fix for this because it should be updating if you update the country, especially if there is no grid added.

I’ll reach back out as soon as possible. Sorry for the hassle here.

@W9DAE Just wanted to touch base and let you know that we’ve pushed a fix for this and you should be able to edit this properly now. I would make sure you are logged in and do a hard refresh (hold shift on your keyboard and click the refresh button in the browser). Then you should be good to go now.

Sorry about the trouble
