@AC8OW - I’m sparkling new, bear with me. I’d like to participate and have found an ILLW site near me. Do I just show up with my radio? Sorry for being so slow. I’m excited to connect up.

I’m so glad to hear you are getting involved in ILLW. First I would recommend you go to the ILLW website and see if anyone is already registered for that site. If so, maybe you can coordinate with them. If not, then by all means, register the location and make it happen.
It works similar to a two day long POTA activation or a Field Day event. If you are not setting up structures, then you can show up. Since we operate three stations for 48 hours straight, we obtain a permit from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and utilize a motorhome and two pop-up shelters.
Make it your event. The important thing is that you Get On The Air.
