POTA Activation

I am wanting to make my first attempt at completing a POTA activation. If utilizing the WRL site to activate the park and log my contacts, do I still need to activate the park utilizing the POTA.app site and log there as well. It sounds a bit redundant, but I thought I would ask for clarification. Thanks so much in advance for the responses.

@W5WST Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but from my understanding, in order to activate a park using WRL — or really any logging software — you’ll start by creating a new log specifically for the park you’re activating.

World Radio League has a great built-in feature for POTA activators, allowing you to spot yourself directly from within the log, without having to leave the app. so you can start activating right away!

Once you’re done with the activation, you’ll need to export your log as an ADI or ADIF file and manually upload it to the POTA.app site. As far as I know, no logging software currently uploads your log to the POTA site automatically — that final step still needs to be done by hand.

It’s one small extra step to take, but it’s something that all POTA activators have to do. Hope this helps!
