@mstricklett welcome! Jim and I are both in Georgia, we were just shooting a new video about simplex at Stone Mountain actually. Thanks for joining and we’re very happy to have you!
Great - enjoy your visit and come again! Did you get to enjoy any of the St. Patrick’s celebrations!
Nope, too busy on some new features for the practice test haha!
Thanks! That does help.
Hello, my name is Bob Mador (KK7DSO). I used ARC Prep to get my Technician License in Feb 2022. This is my first foray into the world of HAM Radio. I have only an HT. The HT I have is the BTECH DMR-6X2. I’ve been making contact with the local ham club to help me get familiarized with my HT. Hope to hear from everyone one day!

Welcome @KK7DSO , so happy to have you hear! DMR is a bit tricky, but we’ll see if someone around here can help additionally, we are dropping a video this week that will show you how to make your first contact easily using FM Voice Simplex, that could be helpful too!
Hi James, thanks for the comment. I look forward to viewing the FM Voice Simplex video.
HI Dan… or should I say Hi Neighbor!! I’m in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island and I just got my Technician License back in Feb 2022. So you can say I’m BRAND NEW to the Ham World! I have a BTECH DMR-6X2 handheld and I’m trying to learn it so I can become a part of this wonderful world.
Hope to hear you on the radio one day!
73,
Bob - KK7DSO
Hi Bob,
I’m not that much newer than you are I took my tech back in october and my general last month.
DMR is a tricky topic to get your head around, let me know how I can help!
Hi, this is Steve KF0IFM and I am new to the hobby. I live in Overland Park, Kansas and am just learning to use a Radioddity GS-5b HT. Excited to learn!
I just responded to you in Ask an Elmer Steve. I think I found it. Watch our Simplex video for more on getting going with that.
Welcome @K0WZX-STEVE , we’re happy to have you here! I hope you find the guides and information here, as well as the community, very helpful. Let us know any feedback
I’m Patrick out of the Chicago NW burbs. I have been involved in the local CERT in the past and always appreciated being prepared. I passed my Technician test this morning and I will work towards my General in next few weeks.
I am looking into getting a basic setup started at home and in the car. Definitely excited to learn more and get started once I’m listed officially.
Congratulations on passing and welcome to the hobby!
Thank you, JamesARC! I was at my local SFTARC meeting last Saturday and was talking about this site and the attractive and user friendly space. I think some of the 15 people at the meeting will be checking it out!
Steve
Awesome @K0WZX-STEVE ! I really appreciate you sharing. We’ve got big plans for growing this community, getting more hams licensed and involved, activities, connecting people locally, etc… so much to do! I’m really happy to have you here. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any feedback and thanks so much for the kind words and recommendation.
Hi James! You are doing a great service to the growing community by making the website current, modern, less complicated, less forbidding! Congratulations! It’s so inviting. I will get some gear sometime, because even your branding is cool.
I will be getting my vanity callsign on Friday and I would like to change my profile to no longer be my email address but my vanity callsign. Am I able to do that or do you need to do that at the administrators level?
Thank you for your response. I’m happy to be part of your community.
Steve
Forgive me, James. I said “less complicated, forbidding” but it’s not complicated or forbidding at all. Your site is completely approachable or even for a new operator who has no technical background.
Bravo!
@K0WZX-STEVE You should be able to change your username for the community forum by clicking on your profile icon and going to “Preferences”. I know sometimes the username gets locked though so let me know if you have issues.
It’s been a lot of work to get this new platform up for sure, but i’m very excited to see people starting to use it We’re going to reinvest everything right back into growing the community and platform and see where it takes us!
Good morning from Clarksville, TN. My name is Adam, KO4ZGM. I am active duty Army stationed at For Campbell, and am new to the ham world. I earned my technicians license not long ago and am a proud owner of my baofeng uv5r. I have always been fascinated with amateur radio and quickly found out i am a very slow learner with what is offered, so i am taking my time with the general course. I have a beautiful wife and three wonderful children. My middle child wants to follow in my footsteps with ham, so we are learning together. I love meeting people and wanting to help any way i can in my neighborhood. Thank you for this opportunity to invite me and hope yall have a beautiful week. 73
