When will I be able to click on the program icon and then have the Cat load up and load as well?
How about a spot map that will show the current position (north, east, south, west)of a potential contact so that people with beams can get an idea where to adjust their antenna. The current map is dead*,* not alive*,* As you click on a call sign, I would love to see on a map where they are.
I’m not exactly sure what your meaning when you say “click on the program icon and then have the cat load up and load as well”?
As far as the beam direction, we currently have direction information at the bottom of the call sign information (see screenshot). However I’m sure we could add something similar on the actual spotting page and maybe embed the same map thats on the main spotting page, into the spotting tab inside your logbook and just have a toggle to hide/show the map.
So currently you can only use the cat control app with the web app. Since the web app needs to be opened in a web browser we dont really have that much control over that. There might be a way that we could have the cat control app itself open the web app in a browser window. The current cat control app will most likely be going away once we release the desktop app since the desktop app will have cat control built in natively and will give us WAY more control over cat control that way.
This is definitely an interesting idea. Maybe there is a way to launch it automatically or have a button that launches it quickly!
Also, desktop app will definitely make it easier to manage.
@K4AZE we’ll have to discuss if it is worth keeping the CAT control app for web logging, I tend to think it might still be a good idea to keep it if we can centralize the CAT control code so we don’t have to maintain two versions!
