Syncing logbooks with QRZ

Can contacts from QRZ be synced with WRL?

@K4CKR Yes. First make sure you have a WRL logbook created in your account. Then goto the integrations page in the web app (app.worldradioleague.com) and then goto the QRZ integration and in the import settings add your QRZ API key from your QRZ logbook settings. Then select the WRL logbook you want your QSO’s in your QRZ account to go into and click the save button. It will start importing your QSO’s shortly after saving it.

Thank you. I’m guessing this cannot be done on the phone app?

@K4CKR Correct, not currently. The mobile app is mainly meant to do remote/portable logging. However we plan on making it more feature rich. With all that said though once you set it up on the web app it will app sync to the mobile app.

Thank you

Quick question on topic…I was having issues with grid tracker and wsjt and wrl all working together..If I just do my normal routine which is to have Gridtracker auto log to QRZ..Can I just at end of my session for night just use integrate feature to grab QSOs for night and will I get credit towards daily events and leaderbpards and such?

@KJ7LEX No i dont think so. I use Gridtracker with the WRL Cat control app and JTDX (i prefer it over WSJTX, but both work). Below are instructions on how to set it up. Just make sure you are following the setup exactly and look at the screenshots and set everything enabled as in the screenshots and the UDP ports the same.

WRL Cat Control / WSJTX / GridTracker / QRZ Integration Steps:

  1. Start by going to the integrations page in WRL and downloading the cat control app (World Radio League)
  2. Start the following apps in the following order (this seems to be important). Start WRL Cat Control first (then connect to your radio and make sure its connected then start WSJTX listening after making sure the port is set like in the screenshot labeled “WRL-CAT.png”), then start Grid Tracker, Then start WSJTX or JTDX (whichever you prefer).
  3. Then go into the settings for GridTracker and under ‘General’ set the ports to match the screenshot i’ve attached labeled “GridTracker-General.png”. Then goto the “Logging” tab and set two things that are highlighted red in the screenshot labeled “GridTracker-Reporting.png”. NOTE: since there is no WRL option in GridTracker i enabled the last option that says “HRD Logbook” and tied it to the same port. This is important.
  4. Then go to your WSJTX / JTDX settings and go to the “Radio” tab and make sure the radio drop down is set to hamlib (See WSJTX-Radio.png), Then goto the Reporting tab and set everything EXACTLY as it shows in the screenshot labeled WSJTX-Reporting.
  5. Then you’ll need to close everything and then reopen it all in the following order from here on out (the start order is important too). Start with WRL Cat Control, connect your radio and start the UDP listener, then open Grid Tracker and let it load up, then open WSJTX.

At this point everything should be setup to correctly talk to one another. Make a contact, once the logging window pops up in WSJTX, add your power and comment (if you add this information) and click the ok button to log the QSO.

After about a second or so the contact will show up in your WRL logbook .I’ve also added a screenshot of the JTDX settings if you prefer to use that instead of WSJTX,i personally do. if not you can ignore that screenshot.

After setting up everything exactly like pics I now get rig control error when opening wsjt-x.

@KJ7LEX Did you set the radio drop down to hamlib in the radio settings?

Correct…I did resolve issue…although not quite like your description. I have that tab set to my radio (xiegu G90)… the problem i had was I was running cat control instead of just listening…Contacts are now being recorded automatically…:)…

@KJ7LEX There are multiple ways you can use the cat control app. One is using rig control with the WRL Cat control app and set WSJTX radio settings to point to the cat control app using the ‘hamlib’ option from the radio dropdown and then you’ll still have to turn on the WSJTX UDP listener from the settings. Alternativley you can use it how you are using it and not have the WRL cat control app setup to do rig control and have WSJTX connected directly to the radio and just use the WSJTX UDP listener in the WRL Cat control app.
