Welcome Back to WRL

Hey there, @N2DUP - I’m curious what’s going on here, ARC seemed to just vanish and my email just alerted me to new topics on a post I made there…

Kinda odd you restored the entire config back to a new domain name with a new logo and a new style sheet.

Hey @K7NGS - James, CEO of Ham Radio Prep / WRL chiming in here. Sorry for longstanding no update - that’s my fault. I’m going to get something formal written up for our former VIP members like yourself to explain the full process.

American Radio Club was taking off and was in good shape, but it ran into legal issues. Another amateur radio organization who I cannot name felt that the name was confusing and was looking at taking legal action. Since we are still small, we couldn’t take the risk of fighting it in court.

We went back to the drawing board and created the World Radio League, and we’re doubling down on adding new features like the World Radio Logbook.

We would love to have you continue to be a member here if you’re still interested - let me know any thoughts feedback. You’ve got a direct line here to the CEO! 73

Hey James - no worries at all, I was just curious, ARC seemed to stall then when I checked back it had vanished.

I think I know which organization you are talking about.

I’m definitely interested in continuing to participate for a variety of reasons, i’m also open to increasing my participation, I already looked over the new site, I have a background in cloud technology so I have a few suggestions.

Sorry for tagging @N2DUP , he was just someone I had interacted with before.

thanks,

dan

Of course man - thanks for hanging in with us. We’re about to make a big splash and having you around will be a big help with that. Have you checked out the logbook yet? It’s in beta so working out a few kinks before the official launch Oct. 2nd.

So, I tired to login but it says I don’t have an account (but I’m still getting forum email). Created a new account and some how thats still “me” on the forums.

Also, I replied to the email that was sent out this morning. I got an email from “American Radio Club” telling me how to reset my password for Ham Radio Prep . . . seems there is work to do still. This is the email I tried to send:

Couple of observations:
I’m getting forum emails from the old site but the site says I’m not registered
I would have tried to reset my password but that doesn’t appear to be an option.
When registering you force people to agree to the TOS and Privacy but those documents are not provided or linked to in the signup process.

Hey Rob - thanks for letting us know!! Yep, this is still in BETA so a few kinks to work through. This information is a HUGE help for us to be able to fix those emails. For the logbook, you should create a new account, and that will be linked to the forum. We were able to save the forums and even add some functionality here. Were you able to get logged in to the logbook now too?

Welcome back Steve!! Great to see a familiar face. PS - Ham Radio Prep is currently working to be an approved vendor to help the US Army with their amateur radio training!

I’m really excited about this site, as I’ve been known to complain about how most ham sites (except for that of POTA) are dated, difficult to navigate, and not mobile-friendly. I used Ham Radio Prep to earn both my Tech and General licenses recently, and it’s great to see that design theme remain consistent here.

I’d like to get started with the logbook, but is it possible to bulk upload? I have my logs stored in an Excel sheet. Entering them individually might take awhile, I have only a few dozen. Some folks have thousands.

Thanks again for the WRL. It looks great!

Welcome Lance!! We’re super happy to have you! I totally agree - thank god for POTA, it has really been a great technology in ham radio that has helped get people operating and improving their skills. We want to bring that same excitement and more to amateur radio, and we’re going to be releasing new features like crazy.

We don’t have import yet but it is on the roadmap! We’re planning to start publishing the roadmap items in the community here so you can track them.

In the meantime, have some fun with the logbook - next update will be this week and we’ll try to stay on a roughly weekly update schedule!
