Wsjt-x, kx3 & wrl

Has anyone configured there KX3 to work WSJT-X with WRL CAT control? If so, how did you configure the WSJT-X and WRL CAT control to log your contacts in WRL?

Not with a kx3 but I set WSJT-X to control the rig (ft-891) then have WRL CAT listen for WSJT-X UDP broadcast adif data.

Personally when I do FT8, I don’t even use WRL CAT Control. I end up using FLRig, and then using the CAT Control software to listen to WSJT-X to log my contacts when I make them.

@KO4DKN Indeed I have, that is currently my only HF rig, and I am using the WRL cat control.

Firstly ensure that your KX3 firmware is at the most recent stable version (the problem I had initially), set WRL cat to Elecraft KX3 20220213.15 Stable, set what ever your com port is and set the board rate set the baud rate to what ever is configured on the radio mine is set to 38400.

I am using a digirig sound card which has the cat pass through, then with WSJT-X set it to Hamlib NET rigctl use 127.0.0.1 as the network server address, set the PTT Method to VOX and leave mode and split operation as is, ensure your sound card is correctly selected, I test it to ensure the the frequency changes on band change.

Then back to WRL cat on the page where you set the radio etc on the WSJT-X page leave the port as it is, then select the log you want to use you may to hit the refresh icon if it is not listed, then click on ‘start listening’ at the bottom.

Then use WSJT-X as usual hit ‘log QSO’ when you have finished the contact close the WSJT-X log page when your happy and a few seconds later it will appear in the WRL log you selected with all the information from the log window with the frequency etc all populated.

Hope that helps you out I find the setup works well on both Mac and PC I’m running on both
