Recently got a G90 had a question. When operating digital (FT8) should the power meter move?
I don’t know about the g90 but my ft891 has to be set so that the meter reads power, not SWR, or something else. I don’t know if that helps but i thought i would say it.

Your power meter should max out to whatever power output you have it set for. If you don’t see power out, you might not be driving it with enough audio. I am not 100%, but if it is like most rigs, you should be able to set it to see both power meter when keyed and ALC meter. You want to adjust the out going audio during transmit / tune by raise or lowering it so your ALC meter JUST starts to show up which should also give you full power out. You dont want it at ZERO ALC because you likely are not going to get that power out, but you don’t want it so cranked up on ALC that your signal is splattering and distorting your signal. On most FT8 software you will have a slider labeled power or pwr. On WSJT-X, depending on the version, it is normally bottom right. This is actually just the audio output level in question. If you cant find it, adjusting it in system settings does the same thing. If you knew all this and this was more of a specific issue with the G90, apologies. Even if that’s the case, it might help someone else later.
