Add County Field to Logger + Get Name from QRZ w/ WSJT-X

I have been trying the free version for a few days to see if it will work for me before becoming a member. I have 2 items that I’ve noticed that are missing for me and they are as follows:

  1. There are no fields to capture their County and my sent county. For county hunters this is a must.
  2. When using the CAT control for WSJT-X I noticed the Their Name field is not being filled in with QRZ lookup. I also haven’t quite figured out how this lookup all works. The info in the left column never fills in before logging the contact so you don’t have the opportunity to enter their park number before it’s posted. This means you have to edit the record to enter their park number.

Maybe these work with the paid version?? Anyway, other than these items I’m really linking your logging program so far. I currently use N3FJP’s logging program, so it will be nice to see the integration program for it.

@WA0YPC Hey Dennis,

You can use the ‘All Fields’ logbook template which has the ‘Their Country’ field, additionally with a subscription you get access to the custom logbook templates where you can add/remove fields and/or rearrange them anyway you would like. ‘My Country’ is always included in the QSO data though.

As far as the cat control app, this will most likely be going away once we launch the desktop app as cat control will be integrated natively. The ‘Their Name’ should be coming over but for some reason (i just tested this) its not so there is a bug there. I’ll reach out to the team and have them look at this. Since there is no place in the WSJTX/JTDX qso data to enter a park number, unless you just add it in the notes field, there currently isn’t anyway for us to push it from WSTJX/JTDX into the ‘Their park’ field in WRL.

Yes, thanks for the clarification. It is County not Country I was looking for.

As far as the POTA logging, I would suggest the fields on the left side of the screen to be filled in from QRZ and WSJTX before saving it to the logbook. This would allow their park number to be entered along with any other info before saving it to the log. The logging software I’m using now does this and works great.
