I have recently been working on a vanity callsign request. I used AE7Q's Amateur Radio Database Query Tools for my source material. Does anyone find a better site for this? Not that I am expecting to change my call for a while, but it’s good to know.

I use AE7Q to assist our members all the time. It offers a great history back to almost pre-ULS days. I also have used them for monitoring vanity call signs. Their info is always fresh and up to date.

@N2DUP I’m not familiar with AE7Q - a Google search turned up a pool cue company…

With vanity requests now costing $35 whether you get it or not, hams will have to be sure they do their homework now and understand the process in how call signs are released by the FCC, the lottery process, why you should request multiple call signs, etc. AE7Q.com is a great source for learning the process and finding out if/when a call sign you want is available for assignment.

Found this link on Reddit for another vanity call sign site. I like this because it’s a bit easier to read than the AE7Q.com site as far as availability goes.

Wow, I didn’t realize this was so complicated. I searched for my initials in region 6 found one, applied and had it in a few weeks. I guess I got lucky?

It can be. There is a lot of competition for 1x2 and 2x1 calls. (We have a video on Call Signs if you need more info: Ham Radio Call Signs - American Radio Club)
I ended up with my dad’s initials, which works for me.
