What are you thoughts on Vanity calls? I am debating on going for a cool Vanity call. Hard decision, I don’t have a bad call or anything. I do like mine, but I would like to get a special one. I just keep going back and forth trying to figure out what to do.
It is cool that the FCC issued this call to me (KF8EYE).
I live in West Virginia, so I have one Vanity call in mind. If I show you all, please don’t go apply for it

I live in WV, that is why I like the first one. I would like a shorter call, but I do like WV8EYE.
The second one, it includes part of my initials. My last name is not included in it, that is due to the fact that I have two middle names.
Feel free to shares some Vanity calls you think I might like for my own. Also, please share your thoughts on this topic. I thought I’d come ask the awesome community at WRL! Just so you know, I am just considering the idea at the time.
Say the call sign using the int. alphabet and see if you enjoy saying it over and over.
Whiskey Victor 8 Echo Yankee Echo feels nice to me.
Maybe you feel differently with having to say Whiskey 8 Charlie Sierra Papa multiple times while calling CQ.
Another thing to look at is how would you like to repeat the letters in CW. You might not mind one but hate the other. Remember, if you are not interested in CW today, you might be down the road.
Maybe non of that matters and like how KF8BQN said, maybe having something more personal is more important to you.
Vanity calls are a very personal decision so you have to do what you feel is best. Some things to consider; how easy will it be for that DX contact to hear each of your characters, keeping in mind that for DX the less characters you have the better; how easy will it be for you to send via CW and how easy will it be for the other end to decode it?
My call is a vanity, but only because it was the call my dad had when I was born. I could get something shorter and easier, but it won’t have the sentimentality behind it.
