Callsign lookup -- what's the source for CallSign searches?

Curious as to what source that’s being used for the API call to search a callsign (top of WEB page) in the “Search for Call Sign or Name” field.

I’m asking since I’ve received a new callsign and FCC has me listed as the owner, but searching here, it returns the previous (SK) operators data.

@NV6T Good morning,

We aren’t using a service for that, send me a dm with the updated information and we’ll get it updated for you.

Hi Brad

This is only half the truth. :wink:

For certain call signs, data is displayed that can be proven to originate from the QRZ:COM database (easily verifiable: where an OM has deliberately entered inaccurate data in QRZ:COM, this is now displayed in WRL with the same errors).

@HB9EVT Actually no Pepe, the data from the search bar at the top of the web app does not pull from QRZ, the data may be from QRZ but its not pulling from there it pulls from our internal database. Now callsign lookup’s while logging, those can come from QRZ if the user has QRZ lookup enabled and has a QRZ subscription, otherwise it comes from our internal database.

i hope this helps.

In this case, we unfortunately have a bug (even without being logged in, I can see data that originally came from QRZ:COM). I will submit a detailed bug report on Monday.

Again, some of the data is originally from QRZ but that doesn’t mean that its being pulled straight from QRZ

Hope this makes sense.
