Cat control not working with my IC-7300

I have setup Cat control and everything works as it should inside WRL except for the rig control of my IC-7300. The com port and braud rate are correct (matched in radio & device manager). Cat control says connected with radio.

Why does the freq not change on my rig when I select a POTA contact?

Ok, I shut down and re-launched cat control and everything is working as it should. Now have rig control (freq changes) when I click on a POTA spot.

@KQ4LDY Hey Dennis,

Yes there seems to be a specific order things need to be started in. Also i’ve listed below the radio settings that James uses for his 7300 that he said he has everything working as expected. He did note that he had to keep the baud rate at 9600 instead of anything higher.

CI-V Baud rate: Auto
CI-V address: 94h
CI-V Transceive: ON
CI-V USB Port: Unlink from remote
CI-V USB Baud Rate: 9600
CI-V USB Echo Back: OFF
USB Send: off
USB Keying: off

may have to turn CI-V USB Echo Back: On

Just make sure that you have that same baud rate set in your COM port settings in device manager as well and that you have power management disabled for the com port (if you have that option).

Important Notes (For Windows Users):

  • Go to ‘Device Manager’ –> ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ and right click on your COM port for your radio, then click ‘Properties’

  • Under the ‘Port Settings’ Tab, make sure you have set the baud rate under the ‘Bits Per Second’ drop down that you’ve set inside your radio settings (do this for both COM ports for your radio, if you have more than 1).

  • If you have a ‘Power Management’ Tab make sure to uncheck/disable the two options here that say “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” & “Allow this device to wake the computer”

Thanks & 73
