Icom IC-7610 Settings to work with WRL CAT Control program

Hello-

I’m not able to make a stable connection to WRL CAT Control program.

When I load WRL CAT Control, all seems okay and I can change frequencies on the radio, and it seems to work fine on the WRL CAT Control program and the WRL Logger.

However, if the radio is not adjusted within about 60 seconds, the WRL CAT Control freezes / fails to work/ losses connection to the radio. I can close & reopen the WRL CAT Control program and it will again work as long as I keep adjusting the frequency on my radio. I have tried to see if it is my computer going into some sort of “sleep” by continuously moving the mouse when not moving the radio frequency. The WRL CAT Control fails to stay connected after about 60 seconds.

By the Way- I have used HRD software for a long time without issues. Also I can use WSJT-X without issues.

My radio gear is an ICOM IC-7610 connected to an IC-PW2 Amp. My computer is Window 11. Using Com port 6 and baud rate is 19200. WRL CAT Control (1.0.9). Also the CAT Control window only shows one VFO, not two.

I have had communications with WRL Help/ Support and they are not able to provide a solution. They suggested this message board.

Given that the radio and CAT control program appear to work (initially) is there a timing setting that I might have missed somewhere?

The support desk suggested adjusting a setting called “cat time out timer” on my IC-7610. I was not able to find such an adjustments. Does anyone have any ideas of what setting I might have missed or a solution to my problem? I really not want to give up on World Radio League logging, but without Rig Control working, there is no benefit for me.

Current settings are as follows:

CI-V Settings:

CI-V Baud Rate 19200

CI-V Address 98h

CI-V Transceiver Off

CI-V USB/LAN->REMOTE Tranceiver Address 00h

CI-V USB Baud Rate Auto

CI-V USB Echo Back ON

COM Settings:

@AB8GJ One thing I’m not sure If i mentioned in your ticket previously but under the Power Management tab in the COM Port Settings (your screenshot) make sure that you have both options in there (‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ & ‘Allow this device to wake the computer’) both disabled/unchecked.

Thanks & 73

They are both Unchecked.
