Connecting Radios

Hi all. New user here. The software looks awesome. I am trying to connect my radios to the software and having a few issues. I have an Icom IC-7700 (primary) and an IC-9700. I have been using these both with Omnirig and Log4om. When I try and connect using the WRL Cat Control I follow the procedure and it always comes up and says Radio Connected Succesfully and the green icon is lit but I am not getting any frequency following or control. Do I need to run Omnirig any more? I would like to get both radios going if possible.

@VK3IK Hey Chris,

So keep in mind the cat control app is still VERY beta and will most likely be going away once we release the new desktop app that is coming in a few months as cat control will be built in natively. We also have a major WRL cat control update coming in the next couple days that will fix several issues users were reporting.

With that said, no you dont need to run omnirig as the current cat control wont work with virtual ports. I used to run omnirig as well and found that even if you close the app, its still running. Open task manager and make sure you kill the process then open the WRL cat control app go into the settings and make sure you’ve set your radio, com port and baud rate properly and then try to connect the radio.

That should work.

Thanks & 73

Just a quick update. I managed to get the IC-7700 sumwhat connected using the CAT Control Beta 1.0.5. The main problem at the moment is that the radio constantly flicks from VFO A to VFO B. Also the frequency doesn’t update in the software. I understand that it is Beta and things will change. Thought I would let you guys know what I have found.

Another quick update. I have updated to 1.06 and tried to connect to the IC-7700 and am having the same issues. When the radio does connect the software shows the frequency of VFO B and then flicks to A and back to B continualy.
