The WW-DIGI contest just ended and I was looking to submit my contest log and noticed that when you export the Cabrillo file, the contest exchange is not included. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I can’t seem to get it to work.

After reading a post about contest exchanges, I figured out how to get my grid to be included. For some reason the received exchanges are not included. I did use the WRL desktop app to auto log all contacts via UDP and I had WSJTX set to WW-DIGI contest mode. Hopefully this info clarifies my issues.

Here’s my work-around. I exported the WRL Cabrillo file. I also exported the WSJTX Cabrillo file. Then, copy/paste the missing exchange info from the WSJTX file into the WRL file. The header needed some tweaking, too. Perhaps there’s a better way, but hope that helps, GL.
@K5JZZ @KQ4TTO yes, there was an issue with capturing the exchange into the contest exchange field 1 on our end from wsjtx. This is one of the reasons why we normally don’t add digital contests to the platform because there are so many variables on the wsjtx side. We are working through it though and we will push a fix to the cat control and desktop app going forward.
You’ll still need to always add the “my exchange” info for every contest you participate in on WRL.
Another workaround (at least for this specific contest) is to just export your contest logbook as an ADIF and then use the ADIF to Cabrillo converter on the WW DIGI contest page and submit it that way
I ran into the same thing, this was the first contest I ever tried. I was really expecting the WRL logbook to just be automated and upload everything needed to the contest web site. I did figure it out, but that would definitely be a good feature to add to WRL.

I also had some issues when uploading the Cabrillo file. Some information was missing from the Cabrillo file. It was pointed out that there was something wrong with the frequencies, and the grid squares for the other call signs were missing from all of them. I was a bit annoyed at that point. As I’d also linked another programm to WRL, all the data was transferred there correctly. In the end, like some others here, I uploaded the data in ADIF format and converted it into a Cabrillo file. This then worked without any further problems and, most importantly, without any error messages.

@W5SBR @DO2SHJ For every contest in WRL you have to add your exchange to the ‘my exchange’ field under the main logging fields before exporting your cabrillo. All the other contests besides digital contests work flawlessly but there is still an outstanding issue with capturing the correct exchange from wstjx/jtdx and passing it to the contest exchange field 1 in the WRL logbook. We’ll get this fixed
So in WRL it lets us put in operating locations, on the logbook we select the operating location we are working from. In this instance your exchanging grid squares, so why would it need to pull that data from WSJTX, when it is already on the log book? seems over complicated solution when your making every contact from one operating location just add the grid square from the location entered into WRL and assigned to the log book? Sorry if its a dumb idea just seems so easy it should work, not that typing them in was hard just redundant. Thanks for the response, look forward to WRL becoming better all the time.
@W5SBR For your gridquare that could possibly work however other people you are making contacts with might not be at their home QTH location that they have set in QRZ as their location. They could be doing a pota or sota or could just be somewhere other than their QTH. We still have to capture that data that WSJTX is passing in the QSO broadcast data and pass it in the contest exchange field
