Uploading a Completed Contest log

Hello everyone I am Tom KB2TDH

I recently participated in a contest and was unable to directly and correctly add the QSO’s to the logging software I was currently using so I am now in the process of creating a contest log in WRL and I have been looking at the settings and pages to convert to Cabrillo so that I can turn them in on the contesting site. WRL had the correct log but I am unfamiliar with the system and process to upload it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Tom

Hi Tom,

If I understand your question correctly, all you need to do is download a Cabrillo formatted ADI file (ADIF) from your WRL contest log and put it somewhere that you can locate it again. Review the contest rules as they will give you the web site to upload that ADIF to. Upload the ADIF and ensure they accept it, or note any error message(s) they give you, fix the ADIF to correct those errors, and upload it again.

I hope that’s the info you were looking for. If not, please specify what you’re stuck on.

@KB2TDH Hey Tom,

So you’ll need to enroll in the contest via the contest page inside of WRL and that will auto create your logbook with the correct contest exchange fields for that particular contest you enrolled in. Then you simply log your contacts, adding the correct contest exchange. Then you can goto the logbook settings (gear icon inside the contest logbook) and click the export button at the top, that will take you to the export section where you will have an option to export your log as a Cabrillo file. Once you download the Cabrillo log you can then upload that to the contest site for credit.

I hope this helps!

Is there a way to stay part of the Contest leaderboard and stats after the contest is over, but combine that contest log into my regular log. I like one logbook overall, not multiples to keep up with in the future.

@N5RWM Not currently no. If you merge your QSO’s from the contest logbook into a different logbook then those qso’s wont be able to be counted in the leaderboard….currently

thank you and I apologize for not answering sooner but I was unable to use my computer for several days because of relocating my shack to a different part of the house. I am still attempting to load all of the written down QSOs in my logbook so I can get that sent in before the end of the month. Thank you for your help.

I have all of the contacts loaded into my contest logbook but I cant find anywhere that I can convert it to the correct format and then upload it to their submission page. Other logbooks I have used have the link built into the contest log so when complete I just turn it in from there. Is that not the case with this one ??

Thank you

P.S. I am pretty sure I enrolled in the contest from my log page >

A little clarification is needed on this. ADIF and Cabrillo are totally different. ADIF was created as a way of moving data between different logging systems that have a different underlying database. It looks very much like an XML file if you bring an ADIF file up in an editor.

Cabrillo files on the other hand are pretty much just used for contest data submission to the contest sponsors. It has just the information needed to enter the contest. It is also readable in an editor so you can see the difference.

Once you have created your Cabrillo file, you should be able to upload it to the contest sponsor’s site or email to the sponsor.

In your logbook click on the gear symbol in the upper right corner (desktop version).

Scroll down and select Cabrillo.

Remember where you saved the Cabrillo file and then send it off to the Contest folks.
