I need to export a Cabrillo file from the log of a SOTA Activation. I contacted some ARRL VHF Contesters during the activation and need to upload the proper Cabrillo file for that contest. The exported Cabrillo is missing required GRID information.

I did a SOTA activation yesterday and logged it with WRL. During the activation, I QSO’d with folks in the ARRL June VHF contest. I’m not a contester but I needed the contacts for the activation.
I have exported the ADIF to upload to SOTA. That worked fine.
I now also need to export the Cabrillo file to upload to the ARRL for the contest. If I don’t upload my log, the other operators don’t get their points…and I think they might get penalized.
The ARRL VHF Contest requires the grids of both operators. The grids aren’t showing in the exported Cabrillo file.
How can I get their grid to show in the Cabillo file? It’s in the WRL log, WRL just isn’t putting it into the Cabrillo file. It’s putting in the signal reports, which are not part of the VHF contest Cabrillo format.
During the Cabrillo export, I tried (hail mary yup yup) using the advanced editor to change the contest to ARRL-VHF-JUN but that didn’t help.
It seems I need a way to instruct the Cabrillo exporter what contest to format for.

PS Contesting and SOTA/POTA activating are not either/or situation. It’s common to stumble on a contest with activating. If I don’t submit the log to the contest, my qso partners get penalized per ARRL VHF Contest rule LGCK.2.
@KA3ZPH I’m not seeing a contest logbook in your account and it doesn’t look like you were enrolled in the ARRL VHF contest. The way contesting works on WRL is you need to enroll in the contest which creates the contest logbook with the required exchange fields. Once the contest logbook is created you can add your exchange to the ‘my exchange’ field and setup your parks/summits and then after the contest you can export your Cabrillo as well as your pota/sota logbooks to upload to those sites as well.
I’m only seeing a pota/sota logbook called ‘KA3ZPH @ W2/GA-083’ from yesterday but its not the contest logbook.
I can try and talk to the team and see if they can manually enroll you in this contest, then move your contacts from ‘KA3ZPH @ W2/GA-083’ into that contest logbook
I’m having the same problem. I was enrolled in contest and none of my records have exchanges in the cabrillo file.
this is my first contest, so I really dont know if I did this right. I get the feeling my wsjtx-wrl exchange didn’t get sent back and forth correctly on my end?
@N3NG Yes, the cat control app isn’t setup to pass the exchange data from WSJTX to the correct contest exchange field. I’ll manually update your contacts.
One thing to note is that for every contest you enroll in you’ll need to add your exchange in the ‘my exchange’ field as well.
I’ve manually enrolled you in the contest and moved your contacts from your ‘‘KA3ZPH @ W2/GA-083’ logbook into the contest logbook and added the pota/sota activities to it as well. Now you can export your contest logbook as a cabrillo and for pota and sota.
@N3NG I’ve updated your data you just need to go into the contest logbook and add your exchange in the ‘my exchange’ field underneath the ‘log contact’ button and then re-export your Cabrillo
@N3NG No you didn’t miss anything. This contest is different than most expected exported cabrillos. I’ve fixed the frequency in the cabrillo itself and attached it here. Just open it in a text editor and make sure your cabrillo header information is correct then re-submit this copy.
Thanks again Brad, appreciate your time and help. I had to manually edit the my grid entries, as the Cabrillo has my home FCC-address grid (FN23) and not the grid for the SOTA summit I was on (FN34). But your work was still a big help!
Now that I have a good Cabrillo file exported and submitted, I deleted the contest log from WRL and restored my original SOTA WRL logbook from an ADIF file I exported earlier. I did this because it seemed like the fastest way to correct my grid on WRL. I’m experimenting and learning here. I do appreciated what you did. Thanks and 73.
@KA3ZPH You didn’t need to manually edit the grid, you could have just went into your contest logbook and updated the ‘my exchange’ field with the grid of the summit and then re-exported your Cabrillo.
