Hell , my name is Robert Spencer from Northeast Florida. I am completely new to the whole amateur radio workings.
I’m studying to get my tech license and then I will persue the general
I just purchased a Baofeng UV-25 plus.
To be honest a lot of this is overwhelming but I want to be able to communicate to not only help myself but also my community and others in times of emergencies.
I look forward to talking with you all soon. Hopefully I will be able to take the test Sat and be able to broadcast soon.
Any advice or help with programming my radio, setting up a log, basically everything would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a plan. I have family in Michigan. I lived in New Hudson, Brighton and Whitmore Lake for many years. Got to cold for me though. As soon as I figure out how to add people to the log or save information I will be in contact as soon as my license is approved. Hope you’re doing well and keeping Michigan safe.

I am a new ham as October 2023.

I would use Chrip to program the Boafeng Radios and get separate rubber dock antennas for the bands you are going to work.

I recently purchased new 2 meter antennas and now can again receive and transmit inside my house.

Hey great to connect with you. I haven’t took my test yet but I will sometime this week if I can get time to prepare for it. Thank you for your help.
The one Baofeng (UV 25 Plus) is not programmable nor does it work with Chirp (so they say). I haven’t got the seller of the radio to reply and tell me which program cable is the proper one.
I did buy another radio.
The Baofeng BF-F8HP PRO it is compatible with chirp and is fully programmable. I think this will be my radio of choice. But we will see. As soon I I have my license I will be in touch and let you know my Call Sign.
